Diving Sites in the Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands remain one of the most dramatically beautiful locations in the world. The scenery from the surface is stunning; massive emerald green monoliths are rising right from the sea and gliding to heights of more than 500 meters. Underwater, these pillars shape a rugged, attractive environment for scuba divers, and over time the elements have formed caves, overhangs, and swim-throughs in the smooth limestone rock.

Other dive profiles include vertical walls that plunge from the facade to over 25 meters. On these walls growing in all nook and cranny are found an abundance of delicate corals, large orange-colored faces, black corals, and long stringy sea whips. Various unusual types of coral can only be found in the waters surrounding the Phi-Phi Islands including a one-meter high white coral shrub that is molded like a Christmas tree complete with little embellishments.

The Phi Phi Islands offer an extraordinary variety of dive sites focused in a small area. One of the most well-known dive sites is located at the Southern tip of the little island of Ko Bida Nok. In a simple bay on the Eastern side of the island are found vast gardens of staghorn and star corals and unbelievable numbers of picturesque reef fish. In spite of diving visibility often being limited to 5-20 meters the Phi Phi Islands are anticipated to remain among the most popular diving locations, Southeast Asia.
